about

In loving memory of George Floyd...

Solomon's Prayer of Dedication...

45then may You hear from heaven their prayer and their plea, and may You uphold their cause.
46When they sin against You— for there is no one who does not sin— and You become angry with them and deliver them to an enemy who takes them as captives to his own land, whether far or near,
47and when they come to their senses in the land to which they were taken, and they repent and plead with You in the land of their captors, saying, ‘We have sinned and done wrong; we have acted wickedly,’… verses 8:45, 8:46 and 8:47 from Solomon’s Prayer of Dedication, Holy Bible

i have made an 8:46 version of this George Floyd tribute by Benny Divine and I, to make you all know how long that feels... listen to it with an open heart and mind... and realize the value of a human life. Murdered in cold blood by a police officer.
thank you to John Convertino and Martin Wenk (from Calexico) for playing vibraphone and trumpet on this track... i wanted to make this tribute feel like a spiritual hymn..... hymn #8:46.... the exact time it took to steal George’s life from the world. Although george had a troubled past, it is important to know that he was a devoted father, and after paying for his crimes in prison, he came out a better human being. Lets help his children, and use this heinous crime as a reminder of the preciousness of human life. He lost his life over a fake $20 dollar bill, what does that say about our society... money is just paper... evil fucking paper!
with love and respect

lyrics

Mr. Floyd 8:46

(words by A. A. Khan
music by Benni)

remembering
brother george floyd

how many times
does a man have to scream
that he can’t breathe
while the whole world
stands on bended knees
and his daughter
she asks please
"leave my daddy alone"
choked by a man
without any heart
as he lay down
and asked for his mother
they tore him apart
hung from a tree
or left on the ground
same shit
different day
thats how they make us all pay
thats how it is
to be black
in this day
the people they rose
burnt the station to the ground
but still nothing has changed
not even the sound
of a helpless murmur
beggin for its life
killing our hopes and dreams
a legacy of strife
how many children
do they slaughter everyday
as they roam around town
looking for their prey
it doesnt get any easier
saying goodbye
as their souls float away
into an empty sky
now the future
seems so uneasy
as dark and bleak as it gets
repeated time and time again
without any regrets
as his daughters say
"please officer please
dont take my daddy away"
remember
always remember
george floyd
